Open Mic Canada 2023 – Rules and Regulations:
- All performances are to be CLEAN with no vulgar language.
- Competition is open to legal residents of Canada with no age limit.
- For participation in online singing competition only one (1) video submission per contestant is allowed. Multiple entries are not allowed and will result in disqualification. Please note that the submitted video cannot exceed 3 minutes.
- For online video submissions, file must be in MP4, AVI, or MOV video format and less than 100Mb.
- All submissions for singing competition can be either COVER or ORIGINAL Song.
- Videos for online submissions may have a graphics overlay if the contestant chooses.
- Winners of online singing competitions are grouped into two main categories: 1st – Best Vocal; 2nd – Best Video.
- Winners of live competitions are grouped into three main age categories: 1st (5-12 years old), 2nd (13-19 years old) and 3rd (20 years old +).
- Winners of live competitions are determined as Best Talent per age category.
- Prizes to be awarded to the first, second and third places winners in each category.
- Winners are to be announced and featured on the home page of the website and Social Media Platforms of Open Mic Canada, alongside with an email confirmation.
- The competition is organized and promoted by Open Mic Talent Search for the Arts Inc.
- If you are under 16 years of age, you must have your parents’ or legal guardian’s consent to enter the competition and send in the signed form if selected to proceed.
- Participants must have valid identification. You acknowledge that Open Mic Talent Search for the Arts Inc. reserves the right to require, at any time, proof of identity and/or eligibility.
- All personal details and/or information presented in your application must be truthful, accurate, and in no way misleading.
- You acknowledge that if unable to submit your completed online video or take part in this competition, you will not be reimbursed the entry admission fee. It is non-refundable.
- In case if your video submission has been accepted for online singing competition, any music and/or lyrics which are composed and/or written by you (“compositions”), you hereby warrant that such composition(s) is wholly original to you, and are not subject to any third-party rights or encumbrances which have not been notified to Open Mic Talent Search for the Arts Inc. prior to your performance of such composition for the competition. The inclusion of such composition as part of the competition does not infringe the rights of any third party nor any common law or statutory rights in any material.
- You hereby warrant that you have not entered into any media commercial, sponsorship, or other agreement or arrangement with any person, firm, or company with respect to your entry into the competition and/or performing abilities and will not do so.
- You acknowledge that Open Mic Talent Search for the Arts Inc reserves the right to amend the rules (without limitations, verbally and/or written) or terminate the competition at any time without liability to you.
- By submitting your online application, you agree that from time to time, our sponsors or associated companies may contact you with information regarding relevant services we feel may be of interest to you. Should you not wish to receive future information from Open Mic Talent Search for the Arts Inc and associated companies about their services, please email info@openmiccanada.com with ‘OPT-OUT’ as the subject. By submitting your online application, you agree that, from time to time, our sponsors or associated companies may share your photos and videos on social media.
- Open Mic Talent Search for the Arts Inc reserves the right to disqualify any contestant if he, she, or group supplies untruthful, inaccurate, or misleading personal details and/or information, or have failed to abide by the rules and/or are in breach of the terms hereof.
- You agree to indemnify Open Mic Talent Search for the Arts Inc in respect of all actions, proceedings, claims, damages, and other liabilities which may be brought against or incurred by Open Mic Talent Search for the Arts Inc because of the breach of any of your warranties, representations, obligations or undertakings contained in this agreement, or in the event that you are participating as part of a group, such breach by any other member of your group.
- You acknowledge that the purpose of the competition is the search for talent, and the competition will require contestants to submit their online video if selected to be judged before a panel of judges.
- You understand the nature of the competition, and in signing this agreement, you hereby consent to the recording and use of your contribution to the competition on the terms and conditions herein stated.
For contestants who are selected for a competition:
- Contestants who are selected to proceed will receive a confirmation email with further instructions.
